This happened when I was working at a pachinko parlor. I was out in town, handing out tissues.
So there I was, handing them out, when an older woman came up and said, “Could I have some tissues?”
I gave her a pack.
“Could I have some more?”
“Sure, sure.” I gave her a whole bunch.
Then she said she wanted to thank me. “Have something to drink with this.” And what she handed me was…
A straw.
She gave me a brand-new straw.
“You can drink with it if you suck on it. Isn’t that amazing?” she said.
Well, I said, “Thank you”…
As for the tissues, she told me, “My grandchild gets so excited when I bring home lots of tissues.”
